Quality Control

Our commitment to quality control is at the core of everything we do and integrated into every single step of our process.

Below is a breakdown of how we ensure a level of precision and consistency that high-volume pressing plants—or operations running multiple automated lathes simultaneously—simply cannot match.

Lathe calibration and setup

Our cutting lathe is the heart of our operation and before any cutting can start, our lathe is calibrated and maintained on a regular basis to ensure consistent and accurate cuts every time.

Our Step-by-Step QC Process

Source Audio Analysis & Mastering

First, we analyze all incoming audio files for potential issues like clipping, excessive sibilance, or phase problems that could impact the cut. This proactive step helps us optimize your files before we ever touch the vinyl.

Live Audio Monitoring

Each record is monitored live as it is being cut. If you order 25 copies, we listen to your tracks maybe 30 times through the process. This level of direct oversight is impossible for larger operations running multiple lathes or pressing thousands of records at once, allowing us to catch tiny nuances that automated runs miss.

Microscope Checks

Throughout test cuts and production runs, we use microscope checks to inspect groove depth, width, pitch and consistency with pinpoint precision.

 A/B Audio checks

We conduct thorough A/B comparisons between your original digital audio and a vinyl rip of our test cut to guarantee total faithfulness to your intended sound.

Physical Record Inspection

Beyond the groove, we visually and tactilely inspect each finished record and sleeve for any physical imperfections or surface blemishes.

Packaging & Dispatch Check

Before dispatch, we carry out a final check to ensure all records and sleeves are securely packaged, preventing any damage during transit.

Test Cut Options

If you want to hear your mix on vinyl before running a full order, we offer two options:

Digital Test Cut: A quick, cost-effective option where we cut a test disc, rip the audio off the vinyl, and send you the file to review.

Physical Test Cut: We cut and post a physical test record directly to your door before you commit to the full run.

(Note: Small pre-production fees apply for test cuts).
